I played around with a few Bitcoin wallets to test them and recover via seed phrase in different wallets. When I tried a Blockstream Jade, I could add another account but when I put in the seed phrase in another wallet the sub account is not found. I've tried blue wallet and nunchuck. A friend of mine lost money in MtGox. They recently got the cash component of the creditors payout. This small portion of their payout was a 90% profit on their initial investment. It has beat inflation by 300%. It is more than 200% better return than the ASX200 over the same time period.

Moral of the story: Getting robbed in Bitcoin gives better returns than fiat investments.

#Bitcoin has the property such that if other bitcoiners do well and have more value to store, the value of Bitcoin increases for everyone. This creates an incentive for the community to develop solutions to help others thrive.

This is in contrast to issue based political movements, where if the issue is resolved there in no reason for the movement to exist. When programs to solve the issue work, they get defunded because they become an existential threat to the group.

I had a chat with my 70yo dad today.

- We discussed COVID and he bought up that it was an overreaction.
- He added that it was a power play. Which led to discussing central banks and government control.
- He then added that global warming was also overblown for the same purpose.
- He then shared his concerns with CBDC's because your money can be frozen like the Canadian truckers.

I have never really spoken to him about #Bitcoin before. He was naturally sceptical about something digital.

On the same day my wife spoke with another dance mum who told her that fiat money system needs to collapse and be replaced with a gold based one.

These conversations are happening by themselves. There is so much need for basic Bitcoin education, but it feels like the suddenly part is coming fast.

Yes, it is new and exciting, but so are Bluesky and Mastodon

Yes, #Bitcoin creates a deterministic optimistic outlook, but other Bitcoin sites like Twitter and Reddit attract scammers and haters.

Humans are hardwired to react more to negative interactions than positive ones.

"The negativity bias is a cognitive bias that refers to the tendency for people to pay more attention to, and give more weight to, negative information or stimuli than positive information or stimuli."

The upside of sharing something helpful or heartfelt on traditional social media is potentially a few likes. The downside is possibly receiving a deviating blow to your sense of worth. The cost benefit ratio is skewed to the negative, why make the investment?

Responses are the same. A cutting remark will generate more engagement than an affirmative one. The likelihood of negative interactions weighs exponentially on social media engagement.

Zaps mean that reactions on #nostr are skewed to the positive. The ability to send hard money directly, even if just a tokenistic gesture, creates an incentive to provide value. The likelihood to be rewarded more for positive interactions builds exponentially on every interaction.

Zaps are the killer app. Keep up the zap culture.
