2. With dollars we don't know how many there are and how much this will change in the future! Fluctuations in the money supply are the reason Bitcoin is volatile. When the money supply was expanding 40% in less than a year, Bitcoin price rocketed. Then interest rates rise to stop inflation Bitcoin fell. Without basing everything on the value in dollars but Bitcoin, prices would be a very stable and changes in price would come from genuine scarcity or technological breakthroughs.
